Head Coach- Peter Forrest
Pete’s Professional career began in the 2006/07 season when he was signed as a Rookie with Cricket New South Wales. In 2012 Pete was selected in the Australian ODI squad and during that time played against India, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Ireland and England. A highlight for Pete was scoring his first One Day international century against Sri Lanka at Bellerive Oval in Hobart. Pete’s professional career included 80 first class matches and 59 ODD’s.
As Head Coach of Mosman Cricket Club, Pete guided the club to historic, drought breaking premierships in the 2021/22 season for both 1st and 2nd Grade. As a highly respected and much loved figure at the club, we look forward to Pete leading us to further success in future.
Bowling Coach- Charles Matthews
Charles “Chuck” Matthews is an accomplished first-grade cricketer and the current Assistant Coach and Bowling Coach for Mosman Cricket Club. Originally hailing from Mudgee, Matthews brought his wealth of experience to the club three years ago and quickly became an instrumental figure in the coaching team. His contributions were pivotal during the 2021/22 season, where he played a key role in leading the club to a premiership victory.
As the leader of the bowling group at MCC, Matthews sets high training standards and provides invaluable insights, ensuring that the bowlers are fully prepared for the challenges of the season ahead. His expertise, leadership, and commitment to excellence make him a vital asset to the Mosman Cricket Club.
Assistant Coach- Ash Doolan
Ashley Doolan is a distinguished first grade cricketer with over a decade of experience at the Mosman Cricket Club, where he has been a key member. Renowned for his skill, dedication, and strong character, Doolan has become a respected figure in the cricket community. His deep understanding of the game, honed over years of playing and coaching, enables him to provide valuable insights in his role as an assistant coach.
In this role, Doolan is committed to not only developing players’ technical abilities but also instilling in them the values and discipline required to succeed both on and off the field. His experience and passion for the game make him a great asset to any coaching team, where he will continue to inspire and guide emerging talent.
Fielding Coach- Austen Sharp
Austen Sharp, affectionately known as “Sharpie,” is the Fielding Coach for Mosman Cricket Club, where he plays a crucial role in developing the fielding skills of players across all grades. A passionate member of the Whales community, Sharpie has become a key figure at the club, known for his boundless energy and dedication to the sport.
Specializing in the club’s fielding program, Sharpie brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to his coaching, particularly when working with younger players. A person of great character, Sharpie is a pleasure to have on board the Mosman Cricket Club coaching panel.
Assistant Coach- Ben Wickham
Ben Wickham is a long-time player and respected wicketkeeping coach at Mosman Cricket Club, where he has made a significant impact both on and off the field. A former first-grade player, Wickham is highly regarded for his specialist skills & knowledge behind the stumps. His years of experience and dedication to the sport have made him a much-loved figure around the club.
As a coach, Wickham brings a personalised approach to developing wicketkeepers across all grades, ensuring that each player receives the tailored guidance they need to excel. His commitment to the club and his passion for nurturing talent make him a valuable asset.
Bowling Coach- Wayne Holdsworth
Wayne “Cracker” Holdsworth was a right-arm fast bowler who took 188 wickets for New South Wales at 32.13. With career best figures of 7/41 against QLD in a Sheffield Shield Final, he was rewarded with selection on the 1993 Ashes Tour. He is the all time wicket record holder at Bankstown with 511 First Grade wickets at 21.23.
Cracker has been a long time coach and member of the Mosman Cricket Club, always providing valuable support and insights for our developing fast bowlers.
